Goddard's mind, though, was bent on his new idea of commanding space flight and it was that, not bookkeeping, which occupied all his thoughts. Time and again, he found himself in the boughs of the cherry tree, dreaming of piloted space flight rather than the dull, regimented life of an office worker. He paid more attention to his experiments in physics than to his class work, which included putting Isaac Newton's third law of motion to the test in his own backyard.
