''In vacuum with nozzle area ratio of 50:1 and initial temperature of 20°C.

If the operation is short (only a few minutes, while the main engine is running), the gas expansion will be adiabatic (no heat absorption by gas) and often is analyzed as isentropic (constant stagnation presure). The temperature of the gas will drop (the pressure and specific impulse will also drop) as the gas is consumed. For long intermittent operations (months or years in space) the heat from the spacecraft is transfered to the gas and the tank temperature stays essentially constant; the expansion will be nearly isothermal. An analysis of gas expansion is given in Section 6.5.

The advantages and disadvantages of cold gas systems are described on pages 303 and 304.
