Some spacecraft functions are best demonstrated by testing a group of components or assemblies under special conditions or with special test equipment or facilities. These design verification tests (see Table 12-9) can even be run on nonflight (breadboard or engineering model) equipment. They demonstrate proper equipment function and allow simplified functional testing at the spacecraft level. For instance, a closed-loop tracking test helps us evaluate performance of an antenna pointing control system.
