Borngen

1987 EW. Discovered 1987 Mar. 4 by E. Bowell at Anderson Mesa.

Named in honor of Freimut Baorngen, senior staff astronomer at the Karl Schwarzschild Observatory, Tautenburg. For 27 years Boarngen has worked as an observer at the 1.3-m Schmidt telescope. He has been particularly interested in problems of photographic photometry and has published numerous papers on galaxies of a wide variety of types. Eighteen of his many minor planet discoveries have so far been numbered. (M 14207)
