6611 P-L. Discovered 1960 Sept. 24 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld at Palomar.

Named in honor of Delphine Jehoulet Delsemme, wife of astronomer Armand Delsemme { see planet (2954)} of the University of Toledo, Ohio. Before her marriage she contributed to astronomical research by investigating the behavior of the population II Cepheid RU Camelopardalis and as a co-recoverer of periodic comet Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova at its first predicted return.
