Named in honor of Eberhard Grun (1942- ), a physicist at the Max-Planck-Institut fuar Kernphysik, Heidelberg. Starting with the Helios missions, Grun has been responsible for dust collectors on a number of interplanetary spacecraft, including Giotto, Ulysses, Galileo and Cassini. He has also interpreted the data collected and determined the dynamical properties of dust particles. In addition to his research activities, Gruan is a professor at the University of Heidelberg, where he passes on to students his knowledge and long experience in space missions. (M 27458)
