1989 GA. Discovered 1989 Apr. 1 by Y. Kushida and O. Muramatsu at Yatsugatake.

Named in honor of Megumi Hara, professor at Aoyama-Gakuin University, and an authority on star names, myths and history of the constellations. An observer of variable stars for many years, and long very active in the popularization of astronomy through lectures and articles, he is a leading member of the advisory committee of the Gotoh planetarium and Astronomical Museum.
