with Martin Duncan {see planet (6115)}, virtually revolutionized our view of the dynamics of short-period comets. The work uses sophisticated numerical models of test particles perturbed by the planets, and it has revealed important details about the Kuiper {see planet (1776)} Belt, Centaurs, Pluto-Charon and short-period comets. Levison has also contributed revealing insights into the dynamics of perturbers in the ยก3 Pictoris system and was a leading member of the team that used Hubble Space Telescope to discover possible observational evidence for small comets in the transneptunian region.
