McCord

1985 GE1. Discovered 1985 Apr. 15 by E. Bowell at Anderson Mesa.

Named in honor of Thomas B. McCord, planetary scientist at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu. McCord developed reflection spectroscopy as a means of probing the mineralogical composition of planetary surfaces and played a major role in early applications of this technique to minor planets and the Moon.
