Orlov

1978 RZ5. Discovered 1978 Sept. 13 by N. S. Chernykh at Nauchnyj.

Named in memory of Sergej Vladimirovich Orlov (1880-1958), professor at Moscow University who contributed much to research on comets. This planet also honors Aleksandr Yakovlevich Orlov (18801954), founder and first director of the Golosseevo Astronomical Observatory, known for his research on the Earth's polar motion and on tidal variations in gravity.
