Porubcan

1990 RQ2. Discovered 1990 Sept. 15 by H. E. Holt at Palomar.

Named in honor of Vladimir Porubcan (1940- ) of the Astronomical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava. Porubcan has worked on obtaining and analyzing observations of meteor showers. His work on the Taurid complex, together with Jan Stohl {see planet (3715)}, is widely recognized. Porubcan took an active part in the organization of the international conferences Meteoroids and their Parent Bodies in Smolenice in 1992, and in particular Meteoroids in Bratislava in 1994.
