1964 VY. Discovered 1964 Nov. 6 at the Goethe Link Observatory at Brooklyn, Indiana.

Named in honor of Nancy Grace Roman, a space-age astronomer who joined the staff of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration during its first year and who served with distinction at NASA headquarters in positions of increasing responsibility for two decades. Her earlier professional experience included positions at the Yerkes Observatory and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. Her many honors include the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement award in 1969, the NASA Outstanding Leadership award in 1978 and four honorary degrees. (M 10311) Name proposed by F. K.
