Schieferdecker

1992 RC7. Discovered 1992 Sept. 2 by E. W. Elst at La Silla.

Named for the German organist Johann Christian Schieferdecker (1679-1732), who became Dietrich Buxte-hude's {see planet (4344)} successor at the Marienkirche in Lubeck, by marrying the rather undesirable eldest daughter of his predecessor, apparently one of the side conditions for getting the job. Schieferdecker was a fine harpsichordist and had come to Lubeck in order to learn from Buxtehude the art of sacred composition. (M 31027)
