Shikanosima

1982 VE4. Discovered 1982 Nov. 14 by H. Kosai and K. Hurukawa at Kiso.

Named for the small island located off the northern coast of Kyushu. In 1784, a farmer found the golden seal that was the present from the emperor of ancient China to the king of Na, one of the local states of ancient Japan, when the King sent the first delegation to China under Han Dynasty in AD 57. This association of China and Japan is the first one appearing in the Chinese historical records. (M 22504)
