Named in honor of Gunther (Skip) Schwartz, manager of and observer at Harvard Observatory Agassiz { see planet (2267)} Station and previously field manager of various other Harvard and Smithsonian optical and radio observing stations. He is best known for his role in the recovery of the Lost City meteorite in 1970. (M 4645)
