Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun at 141,600,000 miles. The diameter of Mars is 4,200 miles. Mars is often called the Red Planet because rocks on its surface contain limonite, which is similar to rust. Mars has two moons.

Mars is dustier and drier than any desert on Earth. However, new evidence suggests that Mars may have once been a wetter and warmer planet. According to information gathered at the I <W7 landing site of the Mars Pathfinder Mission, there may have been tremendous flooding on Mars about two to three billion years ago. Mars, then, may once have been more like Earth than was earlier thought.

Scientists are now pondering this question—if life was able to develop on Earth two to three billion years ago. why not on Mars too? What do you think about this? Explain your answer on the lines below.
