Space Shadows

Have you ever held your hand up In front of a bright light to make shadow pictures on the wall? The Sun and Moon can cast shadows on the Earth just like the light and your hand cast shadow pictures on the wall.

Sometimes the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun in just the right place to cast a shadow on the Earth. The sky darkens. The air becomes cooler. It seems like the middle of the night. This is called a solar eclipse.

Directions:

Write "solar eclipse" on the picture which best shows one.

The Moon casts an eerie shadow on the Earth during a solar eclipse. Ordinary objects can also cast eerie shadows when the light hits them at different angles.

Circle the object that formed the shadow.

Draw a shadow for the objects below.
