Andr Couder

Born: 1897, Alençon, France Died: 1979, Paris

Couder contributed in a major way to nearly every aspect of telescope optics. He invented the 2-mirror Couder anastigmat, a development of the Schwarzschild telescope. He also invented "Null Testing" and advocated metal mirrors from practical experiments. The "Couder law" is the fundamental law of primary mirror supports. (Courtesy Charles Fehrenbach)
