Joseph von Fraunhofer

Born: 1787, Straubing, Germany Died: 1826, Munich

Fraunhofer's main contributions were to the development of the refractor. But his advances in optical glass technology, testing and figuring, as well as the application of ray tracing and diffraction theory, all helped the advance of the reflector to its many modern forms.
