Thermodynamic functions of the electron gas in a magnetic field are easily derived from the first principles (Landau & Lifshitz, 1993). The number of quantum states per longitudinal momentum interval Apz for an electron with given spin, magnetic, and Landau quantum numbers (s, m, n) in a volume V equals VApz/ (4n2a;mK) (Landau & Lifshitz, 1976). This allows one to express the electron number density ne and the thermodynamic potential Q = -PV as
